2025 Accomplishments
Another year in the books—and what a year it was!
As we look back on 2025, we’re incredibly proud of what our supporters, partners, staff, and volunteers helped us accomplish. Here are a few of the year's milestones:
1. We completed our Education Center!
It may be small, but it’s beautiful—and more importantly, it gives us a dedicated space to educate divers, students, and members of our community about coral restoration and the importance of protecting our reefs.
2. We trained more than 5,000 people in our first five years.
That’s more than 5,000 people who now have the knowledge and skills to become active participants in our mission to restore Florida’s Coral Reef. Our goal has always been to build an army of ocean stewards, and this milestone brings us one giant step closer.
3. Our one-year coral survival rate is 47%.
This figure includes corals planted before and during the massive 2023 bleaching event, making this survival rate especially meaningful. Despite extraordinary environmental stress, nearly half of the corals we have outplanted are still thriving one year later.
4. Our sponge survival rate is 70% after one year.
Sponges play an incredibly important role in healthy reef ecosystems, and these results continue to demonstrate the value of incorporating sponge restoration into our overall restoration strategy.
5. We applied for permits to establish nine offshore coral and sponge nurseries in 2026.
These nurseries will significantly expand our ability to grow and restore corals and sponges throughout the Florida Keys.
6. We launched an exciting new partnership with The Florida Aquarium.
Their team is among the best in the world at settling coral larvae, and through this partnership, we are now receiving thousands of young corals each year to help grow and restore Florida’s Coral Reef.
None of this happens without the incredible support of our community.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, joined us on the boats, planted a coral, planted a sponge, removed marine debris, attended a presentation, or simply shared our mission with someone else.
We truly cannot rebuild our reefs without you.
Together, we are making a difference.
